Shetland Islands Bead

Shetland Islands Bead

A glass bead inspired by the surf and scenery of the Shetland Islands, Scotland. Collect our lampwork glass charms and create unique surf necklaces and jewellery.

The Shetland Isles are a group of about 100 islands, 130 miles off the mainland of Scotland. Not all the islands are inhabited but the largest island is Scalloway. Shetland is peaceful, wild and beautiful.
You can surf in Shetland as there are exposed swells from both the Atlantic and the North sea.

Our beautiful Shetland bead is made from a stunning cobalt blue, which represents the tranquil colour of the sea. The bead is then wrapped in silver and ivory glass portraying the whitewash lapping the shore. The bead is then decorated in silver wire that melts into random dots around the bead symbolising the reflections of the sun on the sea.

Our Shetland Island beads are made by Sarah in our studio in Braunton, North Devon.

We try our very best to keep the patterns on our beads as consistent as possible but due to the nature of each one being individually handmade, please except there to be variations in each bead...this is what makes your Nalu unique!
