Philippines Bead
The Philippines is a Southeast Asian country in the Western Pacific. Made up of over 7000 islands which are categorised into three main divisions being Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao it’s capital is Manila.
Surfers head for the Philippines to score good surf minus the crowds with the prime destination being the famous Cloud 9. Baler is the birthplace of surfing in the Philippines made famous by the memorable surf scene in the 1979 film Apocalypse Now.
The inspiration behind this bead was to capture its amazing culture. We’ve used cobalt blue and a bright red glass, colours found on the Republic Of Philippines flag. Starting with an Ivory base bead, we decorated it with a large blue stripe, interpreting the ocean, and a series of black lines representing the structure of the pier at Cloud 9. It was then finished off with a series of flattened red dots.
