Riksgränsen Bead - Sweden

Riksgränsen (the national boarder in Swedish) is a ski resort in Sweden. It is home to the annual big mountain championships in May. The Ski season in Riksgränsen is from February to June.

Our beautiful Riksgränsen bead is inspired by shadows cast on the brilliant white snow on the mountains and therefore we wanted to create a bead with striking, contrasting colours. The bead is made in white glass, representing the snow and then we’ve added a small amount of black glass and heated until the glass was molten and then the colours move into one another, known as a gravity bead. Because the glass moves in different directions when heated each Riksgränsen bead has a totally unique pattern. The bead is later tumbled at Nalu headquarters, which gives it a beautiful matt finish.
