Whitby is a seaside town in Yorkshire. Whitby is known for its link to Bram Stokers Dracula and much of the town’s shops and streets embrace the Gothic culture. The main beach in Whitby is long and sandy stretching approximately 2 miles and is popular with families and visitors. Whitby has an exposed beach/pier break and has its own surf school.

The colours found along the coast inspire our Whitby bead and shapes found within the structure of the abbey, the pier and Gothic culture. The bead is made with a centre of light Ivory glass and then encased in amber portraying the colours of the golden sands and sunsets. It is then carefully decorated in random white and red lines depicting the shapes found within the pier and Abbey. Finally the bead is tumbled to give it a beautiful matt finish.

Our Whitby beads are made by Sarah in our studio in Braunton, North Devon.

We try our very best to keep the patterns on our beads as consistent as possible but due to the nature of each one being individually handmade, please except there to be variations in each bead...this is what makes your Nalu unique!
